The technological and cultural changes we have experienced as citizens, academics, and policy makers in recent decades cannot be explained within the limits of our traditional modes of thinking. The politics of globalization are challenging the theory and the practice of traditional academic analysis as well as of conventional policy making. Especially after September 11, 2001, as more and more global issues are becoming securitized, a joint effort reflecting on global governance is necessary.
